Sorry to have mentioned it then......

Yes, they often do these "Olde cars revisited" thing.

Makes a change from the latest Elise with a slightly different engine or EVOIX FQMR-340 revision though

Mike1,

Dont be sorry, it makes me laugh that they feel the need to recycle.
In this case its good as it shows just how much of a cult following the
cosworth had.

(f*ck the BMW though )

It says in the article that the cosworth was from Fords heritage fleet - but it appears to have a cheap bolt in roll cage fitted - I doubt a Ford owned car would have such a mod - seems unusual

Read the article, seems to have been written by BMW fan, despite admitting that it's the slowest car there.

Yes , it was from the fleet. It's been borrowed for articles before but I did notice the cage!

To be fair though, even when the mags of the mid/late 80s compared the normal E30 M3 to the 3-door the BMW won. It wasn't until the Sapphire was bought out that the Ford got the nod a few times as the journos thought the 4-door rwd was a better handling car on the limit than the more twitchy 3-door. Even so, it was never a knockout verdict in favour of either and varied from mag to mag

You've also got to look at the fact that the M3 they've picked for that test is a Sports Evo model with 238bhp ( pretty much the fastest std factory E30 M3 ). It's a bit better than the normal 195/200bhp M3 the 3-door was compared to normally.
