right then my wheels are intermitenly locking up...seems to be the rear and it's only happening when i put it in reverse coming of my drive (slight bank) and then if u roll back down in 1st it's locking...not all the time though... when my gearbox was goosed all 4 wheels locked (4x4 saff) dosn't seem to be any noise from anywhere...had it on the ramps today and both rear drive shafts have play, but that wouldn't cause this???? do i just have to wait till it gets worse or should i get the rear diff reconed....cheers Pete

 

i'd check your gear box

 

how???? goes in every gear fine and isn't making a racket....

 

Take the diff cover off and check for worn or missing teeth.

 

have you run it up on the ramps?

does it do it in any other gear?

 

....yes pal...it only seems to start when u reverse under load.... the cars 420bhp on a standard but sweet feeling box and diffs (front has plate in)

 

cos the gearboxes are shite roflol

 

agricultural i think you called them when i was at your place lol

 

forgot to say...coming up to a junction slow down into 1st...i get like a clutch bite then a bang and then it lets me go forward..

the only guarantee you will get with an mt75 is that it will break

is there a risk of the rear locking up at speed?

 

i would day diff deffo mate

had similar thing with mine, altho didnt lock any wheels thank fuck

was noisy in the end and had play in te shafts

 

none of the transmission on a 4x4 cosworth will take 420 bhp except the rear prop shaft and transfer box

 

None of the transmission on a 4x4 cosworth likes 350 horsies either, mine has chewed her way through two mt75's as well

just phoned Paul @ ny spares about 2wd conversion...not that bad at all when u can part ex ur 4x4 stuff..... or it visa time and a Dougherty box (spelling)...... i just don't know....

you sure it's not the clutch breaking up?

i've got a clutch and flywheel in the garage thats more than a little fucked, the springs have broken in that one and it gave the same sort of symptoms

 

i really dont know fella....looks like the box is coming out...the clutch has done around 12k so it could be fooked...when the box comes out i'll see the clutch and the box will be checked and only charged if fixed...cheers
