Default What size oil cooler? and sump questions

What size oil cooler will be suffiecient for a 420bhp turbo engine?
Does anyone reun remote oil filter and thermostat for the cooler?

Whats the capacity of the existing sump and is there a real need for a big wing sump? Is the standard item not up to scratch?

sorry for the q's but im new to the ford scene and wanna know as much about my engine as possible so i can make some informed decisions.

Cheers!

ur sump is baffled...not like major baffled and gated but it has it's own....what u going for....sump or cooler????...the reason i got a sump was that even if u loose/use a bit oil u've still got plenty......

ill probably go for both

Ill start with the cooler as they arnt too expensive and then maybe get my sump modified. The dude building my car should be able to make a big wing sump for not a lot of money.

First off I'd fit an oil temp sensor and monitor the temps. If it goes much above 125C then you need to fit a cooler. Also any increase in revs over standard max or sustained high revs (on track) will probably require a cooler.

If you do fit a cooler make sure its got a thermostat - no point cooling oil when you are starting off...

Aye i thought that was true for NA engines but doesnt matter too much on turbo'd engines cos the temp of the turbo will warm things up very quickly?
