Can anyone please tell me if this is a serviceable part and how is it removed as my Cosworth now idles at anything from a 1000rpm to 4000rpm. If I disconnect the idle control valve, it then seems to run fine.

have you jet washed the car recently?

Take it off and clean it with carb cleaner m8.

 

Have not jet washed or steam cleaned the engine. Have cleaned the connectors with wd40. It seems to work as and when it wants to. Can I remove the unit and soak it in oil? Thanks for any help offered.

 

 

2 srews either side, and soak it with carb cleaner

 

My valve gets clogged with crap every few months, i took it out this morning cleaned it up and now its fine.

Woodford cant even get this part now as i asked last month. I luckily have a spare just incase my on finally dies.

 

Hi thanks for the advice. I have undone the two screws both side and removed or ring, but I am unable to pull the idle control valve out! How much force can I use before I damage it?

I had to turn mine from side to side to get it out, keep twisting it will free up

Cos Turbo if you cant get it by giving it a firm pull then just tap the metal bit with a hammer should come out then.

Mine also does this Tried gettin mine out aswell but wont move but my T/Body is off the inlet @ the moment so will try whots been said when its back togher

 

Had to clean mine up again this morning worked for 10miles then shit again Looks like the spare is coming out if only it wasn't a 200mile drive to go get it lol.

 

You only need it when you want to start the car as soon as its warm just discornect it

You can not sure it all toghter but then your have to sit there with you foot on the t/peddel untill it idles

 

Managed to free it up. Tapped it with a hammer. Full of crap!!! Cleaned it up and fingers cross it has been behaving itself. Many thanks for the great advise!!!!

 

 

I just leave mine disconnected, it idles fine as well even from cold after 30 seconds.
