Default Single Yellow Lines - How long can you park on them?

Got myself a ticket the other day, left the car parked on a single yellow line for about 15 mins. I always thought you were allowed a short stay on them?

Have I got this wrong?

they are usually subject to parking conditions.

ie the time you were parked.

i can park on the single yellow line outside my house between 6pm and 8am mon to sat, and all day sunday.

no they have restrctions on them at certain times of the day

The one directly outside my house has "no parking" restrictions from 8am to 6pm Mon to Sat, after that and on Sunday you can park on there whenever you want

you are not allowed to park on them during the hours mof enforcment

they dont have to wait either unless you are unloading !!!

thats why they are parking restrictions

the fact the offence code issued is stated at the bottom
"01,,,,,, parked on restricted street during perscribed ours" should be a hint when you said you was "parked for 15 mins"

yellow lines are the ONLY offence that a time plate isnt required and the highway code states the rule for a single yellow line is

08:30 to 18;30 monday to saturday unless otherswise stated

hope that helps

oh and if theres yellow paint on the curb there is no loading allowed aswell

As above, restriction based on the time you parked there...not the period you parked for
