Pug 306 people.. Help please..
I've had a N reg pug 306TD for enarly a year.. In this time the brakes have never been great. When the car had an MOT the pads and discs were fine.
Now I have hardly anything when pressing down the brake pedal til it's almost on the floor..
Now I am probably being a numpty here, but is this something common on these?

Yep master cylinder is common and so is the front brake pipes fucking up but they seem to split in a right poxy place and you would never notice you know?
Are you friendly with an mot place? ask them to do a brake check for you

306s are renouned for having shite brakes mate but that defo doesnt sound right...as Tiff said master cylinder or perhaps the vacuum pump on the side of the cylinder head or the piping going from this to the master cylinder!!! If you need this pump let me know as I've got one you can have for the price of what it costs to post!!

Haven't read all the replies mate - so forgive me if i've missed something...
Check your brake fluid level and if it's low - have a good look at the rear brakes...
I had a rear cylinder go on my 306 and what little did leak out mixed with all the old brake shoe dust and went to a paste inside the drum so it wasn't hugely obvious - did mean that the pedal hit the floor a few times and NOTHING happened with the brakes

ive got a 306 d turbo to on a nreg and my brakes are not the best,they bite but theres a lot of travel before you get anything,i was told you can adjust this from the back drum,something to do with adjusting something in the top bolt hole,ive not looked at this so dont know if theres any truth in it or not but maybe worth checkin if your desperate and lemmi know if it works or not,im sure he said something about the back brakes are takin up most of the travel so you can adjust them to get a better pedal and put more braking to the front,its not that your brakes are psih your just not using them to there best,as i said dont know if theres any truth but worth a shot anyway

A lot of french cars on torsion bar suspension will bias the braking from front to rear based on the load they see.
Whether thats a load of stuff in the boot or whether its been lowered and not adjusted - will all give the same effect.
