Default 2.0 conversion, gearbox fucked? urgent help!!!!

hey, i brought my si with a major blown head gasket so have never driven it. Ive taken the engine out and fitted a 2.0 which seems to be running fine. I went to take it for a test drive and it wont go in gear? ive noticed the arm on the gearbox only has about an inch of movement, does this mean my gearbox is fucked? the clutch pedal doesnt sit as high up as it should either? cheers

clutch cable can be put on clutch release arm with hand and pliers pedal doesnt sit high like it should? looks to have an inch of travel on the clutch release arm before it maxes out? someone has fitted a new clutch cable by the look of it? and i fitted a new 1.6 si clutch to a si flywheel using a si box
