rare ford winter hack
ive now had 28 sierras 10 of which xr4x4s and i always go back from mondeos etc to them, well ive just bought this, the rare glsi 4x4,all xr4x4 running gear without the shity abs and loving it,at £260 with 5 months t+t a kenwood cd player, and near fsh,and not much rust,i dare anyone to say you can get a better car for the winter for that cash...lol..................although i did go to stratford upon avon for it so its more like £350..
i've broken 2 in the last 6 months and i know at least 3 people with them.....not that rare , but they only made in the 89 spec so are not what you'd call common , but def not rare tbh....

I loved my Dads 2.9 4x4 Estate - went well IMHO, better than the 2.5 V6 Mondeo he replaced it with.
Sounded ace when he got a hole in the exhaust - would be worth getting a decent air filter or stainless zorst on there just for the sound they make!

i had one in 99,and i thought they were rare then, not many people know about them, everyone i spoke to kept telling me it was a 2.0,but to be honest the xr4x4 in any year is rare now,so the gls has got to be,only made on a g-reg...........
i went to scrappy other day and they only had 4 sierras in total, they used to have 30+ couple of years ago its all mondeos now,up here anyway there aint many sierras on the road atal..

I used to buy and sell cars quite a lot a few years ago ( prob about 10-12 years ago ) and mainly dealt with Fords and XR4x4's were always good sellers as nobody could afford the insurance on a cossie !!
Best car i have ever owned was a red mk1 XR4x4, D84NTU was the number of it and was in mint condition and felt as fast as fook at the time and not many cars could look near it, remember a mate of mine having a Mazda 323 Turbo and him thinking this was the fastest car ever.... until i blew him away on a race through a twisty windy section of road through a forest
Them were the days and im always thinking that i would have another XR4x4 if the right one came along, seen a really nice blue one for sale a while ago in Aberdeen area, cossie interior and escos wheels and looked in mint condition as well, was big money though IIRC.

Mint as fuck too,no rust etc.Think it's a 2.0.
I used to have a G plate 4x4 2.9 GLS identical to that. It was a great car. Dont think they are rare really. I usually pass one going to work in the mornings at barnton.

And then I bought it off you, and the exhaust promptly fell off
then I had a front propshaft failure at about 130mph coming down Golden Hill (the Malton Bypass part of the A64) at about 1am coming back from Scarborugh - oh the joy, it wiped out the sump and the gearbox and a nova that I overtook
