Default URGENT help needed. My s1 wont run.....

Hello, wondering if anyone can help me as im now stuck at work.
Went to start the s1, and it run for about 3 secs, then just died out. now, whenever i crank it, it runs for about 2 secs, then dies out completely, even with my foot flat on the floor. Its sucking air, and there is no smell of petrol.

The fuel pump is priming, and i have half tank of fuel, so im pretty sure its not them. Any quick help would be good.

Cheers
Mike

Check for air leaks, and is the oil cap on okay?

Give the metering head a "tap", my mates kept doing this so he used to carry a screwdriver to hit it with. Good luck mate.

Are you absolutely sure a boost hose hasn't come off slightly, or split?

Right as daft as it sounds my mate had this on my old series 2 and the pipe had comne off either the actuator or the turbo housing as the bleed valve came un clipped and the bleed valve being heavy the weight of it had pulled the pipe off hope this helps cheers, Grant

RIIIIIIIIGHT! back at home now, lol. I took off ALL the sensor clips, and cleaned them out, and made no difference, so turned to looking at the metering head, and took the air filter off. There was a small amount of fuel in the bottom. So i moved the plunger up and down about 50 times, then tried to start the car. It didnt go first time, but went and ticked over on its own. So refitted the filter, and now its running better than ever. Weird. The ultimate test will be in the morning and starting it from cold, as thats when it used to be at its worse.

Can you overhaul those MFI systems?

Cheers for all ya help
Mike
