Default Crank Pulley

Probably a silly question but:

How do you get the crank pulley off? I thought maybe jaming a screwdriver or somthing through the pulley and onto the engine, to stop the pulley turning?

The engine has the crank pulley with the 3 threaded holes in it. And the car is off the ground with no back brakes. so cant lock up the transmition.

Any ideas??

Hi,

Remove your starter engine and block your flywheel with piece of steel on flywheel teeth.

Regards.

thanks claude,

I was going to try jaming the flywheel in some way. Thought there may have been a significance to the 3 threaded holes on the crank pulley.

Yeh thought it could have been for a type of puller.

That will be the correct/Ford way of removing the pulley. Not using a screwdriver in the flywheel lol.

Cheers guys

once you have the crank pulley bolt undone you will still more than likely need a puller to remove the pulley, hitting it is not a good option as they have a habit of breaking in half, they sometimes even do this when using a puller but a puller would be the best bet once you have removed the bolt

when i removed mine, my 3 leg puller broke it to pieces. so i measured the pcd of the tapped holes and made a puller, it worked really well, never used it again so threw it in the scrap.
