Oil cooler recomendations???
Stripping down the cossie at the mo, and I'm formulating a plan for the engine that will start with a full rebuild so naturally I want to protect my new fresh engine. I only live 5 mins away from mondello park and want to get to as many track days as I can next year. I was looking at a thermostatically controlled oil cooler from mocal for the car, but I understand that when the thermostat opens you lose some oil pressure. So should I fit the oil cooler or not?

Yes im sure it will be a good idea. But only if you are ever going to ge the oil up to the tempreture that the cooler opens.
Also watch when you first fit the cooler as it will take alot of oil away from the engine when it first opens. So make sure you have plenty oil in the engine and top it up as soon as the thermostat opens.
Also dont run an oil cooler without a thermostat. You dont want to have your oil too cool.

If you also do a remote oilfilter install... how would you do it?
I have done this to my car but without thermostat... I made an seriel installation /engine trough filter, trough cooler and then engine), but if I fit a therstatsandwichplate now, I will cut the oilcirculation through the filter... correct?? oops..
Would it be ok to half the oilcooler with some kind of sheetmetal? ex. from 11 row to maybe 5 row, to get the oiltemp up??

It is my understanding that oil travel through a thermostatic sandwich plate to the filter is unempeeded regardless of wether the thermostat is open or not, am I wrong on this???
That is probably correct.. IF you have the sandwich for the cooler ONLY, and the filter screwed on to the sandwichplate.. I have sandwichplate, wich goes to remote filter and remote oilcooler and back to the engine.
Today I fitted some bend sheetmetal to block the cooling air to go trough the cooler... it work with these temp we have here now ( 10 to -5 degrees celsius).. havent been driving the car in summer with extern oilcooler yet. But this not a permanet solution... but for now it is ok
