That is probably correct.. IF you have the sandwich for the cooler ONLY, and the filter screwed on to the sandwichplate.. I have sandwichplate, wich goes to remote filter and remote oilcooler and back to the engine.

Today I fitted some bend sheetmetal to block the cooling air to go trough the cooler... it work with these temp we have here now ( 10 to -5 degrees celsius).. havent been driving the car in summer with extern oilcooler yet. But this not a permanet solution... but for now it is ok !!
