Default Focus fuel pump costs !!!!!!!!

WTF

just been quoted £1000 to replace the fuel pump as its knackered

apperently it has to be programmed to the car

the pump costs 650 plus the dreaded vat (from Ford)and then 250 to programe and fit!(at the garage around the corner from me)

can anyone confirm if this is correct ?

also can anyone find them any cheaper anywhere << real tears!! (contact number would help)

Thanks

i bought another engine for her car, the garage had to swap the pump over as it is programmed for the key.

can you not buy a used pump from the breaker yards, may even have the key for it too.

only problem with that is there is no guarantee that the same won't happen again ! I would get 12 months with a new one . Thanks for the reply though

The key is coded to the ecu as is the pump. Soooo if you get one from a scrap yard you'll need the ecu, keys, pump.

All you can do is pay up really, unless you can find one cheaper online, try phoning around for a local bosch dealer and see how much you can get one from from there, again try online.

That is about the right price aswell i'm afraid

I presume its for a Focus tdci - if so thats about right if you are getting it from a Ford dealer. It might be worth hunting around your local area for a diesel specialist who *might* be able to fix the problem for you a lot cheaper.

pm ginge, he was offering me cheap ford parts the other week lol

other than that, just get an after market one and have a switch on the dash like race cars do lol, so it will be totally independant of the ecu maybe?

you really don't know how diesels work do you?

you sure it's a tdci? tdci should be alot cheaper for pump replacement as it's not coded and alot straight more forward to change.

I can't remember the company we used to use at work - i've changed jobs now aswell - but they were online and did good deals on fuel pumps.
