no idea what the boiler is. it only does the central heating
it wont ignite, it makes a noise when you switch it on and off, but wont do anything other than that

what a Coincidence my cousin just came around mine to use our bog as there having a new boiler fitted, they paid over a grand for there but not sure if that included fiting.
as someone above has said it depends on the size of your house!
pain in the ass when they pack up though, you only then see how much we depend on water

I managed to get a Worcester Bosch of the back of a lorry for nowt. Seen same model advertised for over a grand.
Fitted it to the wall myself and ran all pipework, got a friend of a friend in to disconnect/connect the gas.
Ask around some of your mates, surely someone knows a heating engineer. Wouldn't go through British Gas or that as they just rip you off

Have a look, hopefully its Baxi, if it is most parts can be changed and is normally fixable without fitting a new boiler. Even if it isn't it may be fixable, just Baxis have lots of spares available and are easy to sort. A decent plumber will fix it rather than replace it, of course there are plenty that will do you over for a new boiler you don't need and then be kind enough to take yours away and make money on the parts too

I only ever fit Baxi gas boilers and they are great
Yes ALL parts are available to fix them but sometimes it dosn't make economical sense as the PCB's are sometimes over £150 and you are still at the end of the day left with an older uneconomical boiler that could well brake down again within a few months, with a new condensing gas boiler it is more efficent and always comes with at least 12 month sometimes longer warranty.

Go for a Bosch mate thats all we fit at the Mo
if you oni have the one bathroom a 28SI/CDI would prob be the best bet
Altho halsted boilers are VERY good value at the minute and come with a free remote clock etc, you are looking at about £700 is for a decnt boiler (not fitted)
The size of the boiler goes on your hot water demand to a greater extent, Its all about the LPM

I got a 60,000 BTU Optia condensing boiler for around £600 with a bit of dodgy discount. Fitted it myself (it's an easy job only 3 wires and 4 pipes) and it works great.

i payed 2300 for my potterton boiler and fitting and the cunting plumber STILL never done it right,,, it was feeding too much gas and triggering the auto cut off,,,,, but when i called him to sort he he said hes on his way,,, waited 4 hours till i could hear he was still stuck in traffic when i fucking lost it and he stopped answering his phone
BUT the place i bought my boiler from sent me his mate to have a look at it and he checked and got it working FOC,,,,,, moral of the story is find a PROPER plumber who aint a cunt
and get a bank loan
mind ive NEVER had a issue with my boiler ever since,,,, but the fucking water seperator pump thingy aint set up so i cant ahve heating with no hot water and vice versa but i was broke when got that looked at by him and now hes no longer in london to sort it so i just life with a 60quid a month gas bill but a fucking warm house
