Default Finding a new job/career? Or going back to uni?

Right now i am 22 i really need to begin a career. I graduated from university with a degree in publishing and media last year and took a year out basically, working at Halfords but i've got stuck in that rut where i've become quite content. So bucked up my ideas lately and thinking of moving on.
However my interests have changed and i'd now really really like to do a degree in Mechanical Engineering (wish i'd known this when i was doing my first degree but hey, interests change).
I was interested (and still am) in writing for a modified car magazine and had a couple of things published in Fast Car and had an interview with Redline and Fast Car but became a bit disheartened after not getting either

So what kind of of job/career would people suggest? I just want a proper career, decent money and something different. I know i could do anything once i put my mind to it, it's just deciding which direction to take

Thinking about joining something like BT?

Sorry if this sounds a bit random but figure here is better than most places i know to ask for advice
