Default top end rebuild

whats needed for a top end rebuild? my turbo is starting to get a bit rattly on top, i know its had a bottem end rebuild so thats good, but what parts do i need for a top end rebuild? or should i just buy a top end thats allready been done? also which cam kit is the best to go for? my car is only mildly tuned and i dont want it to get too laggy, got a grs fron mounted intercooler, k&n, exhaust, bleed valve and its allready chipped but will probably rechip when i get the new head.

i would say get:

CVH34 or a standard ford cam kit
Hydraulic lifters
rockers
rocker bolts
top end gasket kit (Payne)
Re-seat valves
genuine ford head gasket
de-coke the head

and that would be perfect

oh and maybe a re-skim on the head if it needs it

its what i have done on mine and its sweet

what problems are they likely to get from a bleed valve like?
from experience the prob is not the bleed valve but the person that tampers with it,if you sort that prob then the bleed valve will give you none

agreed, there is nothing wrong with bleed valves what so ever! a lot of tuner's use them and as said above it's the people that play with them that get problems!!

A bleed valve 'bleeds' off boost pressure before the actuator, fooling the actuator into thinking it is running lower boost than it really is. The main problem with bleed valves is that although cheap, they raise the boost pressure without allowing the ECU to make adjustments to the fuelling, which can cause the engine to detonate or 'pink', leading to premature wear and engine damage. They also remove the boost limit, rendering the ECU unable to shutdown the engine if a problem should arise.

This is a cheap and fast way to increasing performance and a faster way towards engine problems, it has been proven time and time again.. To say that the problem of bleed valves is related only to people who play with them is incorrect, they ignore many of the basic requirements of the engine and remove protection... and you believe this is OK or that nothing is wrong with it.

I would never ever use a tuner who thought that removing boost limits or fitting a device which allows an engine to detonate though its basic design flaws was acceptable

the ecu takes it reading from the inlet manifold
a bleed valve is just a mechanical amal valve

Thats bit of an excessive list to quieten a top end IMO.

A new and cam lifters, and possibly rockers depending on whether they are worn.

An oil change and filter also, and it should be nice and quiet!

And i also agree bleed valves are fine as long as they aren't abused, And alos you should only ever fit a re-circulating bleed valve onto an MFI car, see far too many with bleed valves that waste to atmosphere

Having valves re-lapped in etc won't really benefit you if you aren't losing compression from there, and being perfectly honest, if your going down that route it wouldnt be a proper job without new valves and valve guides either, which all soon adds up and contributes to the bill, especially seeing as the valve guides need to be pressed in.

If all your looking to do is get it quieten it down then just do what i have suggested above and also save some money!
