I've recently decided that I want a Fiesta RS turbo due to inspiration from Rawli and his white monster. Anyway, I started talking to a tuner about it and he's seemingly trying to put me off getting one. I told him I wanted roughly 250bhp from the 1600 CVH but above all, I want the car to handle superbly. I'd be willing to get custom part's made to make this happen, but he seem's to think that I'll struggle to get a Fiesta to handle and put power to the ground.

What's is your opinion's on this?

P.S. This is by no mean's putting the tuner down, he definitely know's his stuff and is really spot on to chat too etc, but it just seem's odd that he think's the Fiesta won't handle no matter what?

 

Who's the tuner?

Mine handles quite well but it could be better, puts the power down fine also.

 

Mines not too bad and only has new standard dampers with a 30mm spring kit and new rubbers.

1. Avoid wheels any bigger than a 15" for handling, any bigger and it will make the handling suffer. Anybody who tells you different is talking bollocks.

2. Fit good quality tyres.

3. Fit good quality struts and springs (coilovers are not the bee all and end all of suspension).

4. Avoid a drop of more than 35mm

Stick to those 4 points and you'll have a sporting chance

as above but i didnt want to go more than -25mm as i relly hamer it around the lanes as for power there is plenty of gear to buy

 

decent suspension, zs rear beam and it should handle pretty well

 

you dont need a ZS rear beam to stiffen the back up, just know where to weld some plates on the rear axle
although saying that my rs handles fines, ive had the back end slide once and that was at 20 round a bend when it was real frosty, but ive got 15's and decent tyres.
i also run on avo coil overs, never had a problem with them, but then i never really had a problem with standard apart from more body roll.
ill be going to 16 inch wheels soon so will see how it handles then but i wont race my car about like i used to, not after the time and money ive put in to it over the last year.

have to say though, my B reg xr2 handled a bit better and that only hand lowering springs , not Ł550 worth of coil overs

your be pushing it for 250 bhp on a cvh, it can be done but why not just build a ZT or ZVH?

 

15's, Zoo lower arms, Zetec S rear beam, Pollybushes, Koni Adjustables, good tyres, Escort LSD gearbox and it'll handle alright..



Waste really.. might aswell buy a Saxo VTS and turbo it, or a Pug Gti.

 

I don't think they handle well at all, but i never use my frst to rally around lanes or use on a track,my vtr handles like it's on rails and its not even lowered yet, to get a fiesta to handle and keep that amount of power down would cost a few quid, a standard erst box wouldn't hold 250bhp so that would need uprating as well, then poly throughout, adjustable front arms, coil overs, rear beam change ŁŁŁŁ's

 

mine just doesnt handle lol, its only been lowered, feels like its gonna need alot more to get it to stick to the road, i cant accelerate at all around islands, it just slides out, doesnt go the way i want it to lol

 

Mine handles excellent with avo coilovers and front/rear strut brace. The ride is pretty uncomfortable though, Feel every bump in the road

 

having a car low and stiff isnt alway the answer to good handling you know guys

 

as std, they handle.............................terribly compared to the french stuff. The std rear is way too shakey for my liking, follow the points above and u will be fine.

 

mines got coilovers poly bushes throughout, uprated bottom arms 15'' alloys and you feel every bump, i'm going off the idea of a 'Shake ya bones car' does anyone know if i put konis or something like that it will feel better, i experience a banging on the back from the coilovers, its shit

 

you have made your car to stiff.
hard stiff ride doesnt always give good handling, i cant see why people dont see this.
ok i got coil overs but they not set on rock ahrd.
hard stiff car is great for a nice smooth track, but some of the crap they sell although will geive better handling on road wont last very long as its designed for track use.
