Default The Post office whats your opinion?

There has been a right load of shit about the post office recently
On the way to work today radio 5 were PROPERLY slating them.. saying the havent met any of their target etc in the first 3 months of this financial yr.

They said only 8 in 10 of 1st and 2nd class letters had got dilivered on time..
Now forgive me for this but i think that 8 in 10 is fairly good.. to be honest what do you want for your 26p
you can post a letter in say devon at 5.29 pm and it will get 300miles upto glasgow, and has an 80% chance of being delivered by arround 9 am the following day. not bad odds if you ask me!

Ok they might break/loose a few things but if you want to send something important dont be a nonce and send the fucker special delivery!!

I certainly do think there is room for improvement and imo the management needs to be looked into.. ie is everyone doing there job properly, is mail on time .. basic people management skills.
Oh and stop spending a fortune employing a load of fucking agency workers half of them cant even speak english let alone read it so how do you expect the mail to get to the right place?

I honestly dont see how ANY improvement could be made by privatising the mail system. (look what happened to the trains )

What are other peoples views on this?

Scum!

They cost my missus her job

Cause they're in such dire straits at the min they cancelled a multi million pound contract as the think they can save money by doing it themselves.

what makes me laugh is a 6-7 person team has been replaced by a 30 personal team in house? They'll screw it all don't you worry.........

Twats.

She's landed a better job now, so stuff erm

Utter sh*t!

A few weeks ago I posted 2 letters for items I'd bought on eBay first class postage, on seperate days from 2 seperate post offices, one of them took 6 days to arrive & the other took over 10 days to arrive!

Once bought a print off eBay & the dumb b*$tard postman decided to leave it outside when it was pi$$ing down with rain, I was at work all day, returned home & peeled off the soggy cardboard tube & most of the paper inside came away with it!

Once broke a 12" record I'd bought too, they are f*ckin useless!

i would say its 80% bussiness's that suffer from the post office as they would send alot of mail in and out everyday and depend on it where as ur average person would send say 2-3 letters a week at the most so i think most ppl wouldnt really notice this lack of hittin there targets.

but wat would happen if it went private? would the other companies have like there own post boxes etc?....lol but with the majority of ppl usin email now for everything is there really a need for a private sector of the postal service??

i have a friend that works for parcelfarce ... complete and utter joke... he is self employed.. if he makes a mistake they comedown on him like hell .. but if the normal employed people do it they just say oh well, try harder next time .. if he makes a non delivery (not in etc), it then has to goto the local main post office .. he then gets paid 15 pence to deliver it there.... so just think when you have 20 people not in instead of full payment he gets Ł3 i know he has had enough of it now .. gets up at 5am gets home at 7pm every day ... but does have a 3 hour lunch break
they have moved the parcel sorting office 3 times in 2 years to save money .. but instead of a central point for everyone its now 20 miles from the main area.

sorry but imho the post office as a compnay are pathetic ... they need to have a unified set of rules that everyone sticks to..

bit that really makes me laugh is although they are parts of the same parent company the post office will not do anything concerned with parcelfarce .. sorry mate nothing to do with us .. have to take that small parcel to the main post office .. not this post office collection centre..

Yeah thanx guys... i'm a posty, and you would not believe the shit we have to put up with, the problem is with management, not us on the front line...

they have completely changed the working practice now, there are no longer second deliveries, everything has to be sorted before the posty goes out, where as they used to sort most of the mail for the first delivery and the stuff left went second... People seem to think we get to work and the mail is sat there waiting for us to take out... Like Bollox, I have to sort on average 1000 items of mail a day before I even go out, and i work in a small out of town office, on a busy day double that

The thing is you get pen pushers sat infront of a computer screen with fuk all better to do than work out shite percentages of the mail we deliver, Fer fuk sake we are only human every one makes mistakes

Oh and Chris (foz) Post office counters has nothing to do with the delivery side of things... so even if the post office WAS privatised your que would still be as long

Also what people dont realise is the Royal mail have to compete now in an open market, but they are capped by the governmant, so other companies can undercut royal mail and Chrage X amout for an item to be delivered and then They can get the post office to pick it up and deliver it at no extra cost as we are at liberty to do so because of the way it is controlled... if the postal service IS privatised the all that will happen is these companies will pick the plum contracts from inner city firms, and leave all the shit to Royal mail, as royal mail wont make money they wont be able to afford to pay staff, staff will go... your mail will be even worse and only the top 20% busines's will get a better service!!!

All you see is NOT Black and White!!
