Have welded a nut TWICE to one, and it snapped off both times. The other one is flush with the flange and I've spent hours and only half drilled it out!
Turbo to manifold btw.

Very common on the FRS..... drill it out and use a nut and bolt... it isn't a 2 minute job either drilling them out
If its taken you over an hour you are using shit drill bits, start with summit like a 5mm bit and regularly sharpen it then work up the drill size once you are thru until you can get the right size bolt thru, I'd expect 15 min max tbh on each bolt

You didn't by any chance try to remove these bolts while the engine was still hot did ya? As the bolts expand and proper weld themselves in the thread. I'd know, as I snapped 2 bolts on the flange when I fitted my manifold....oops!
Went through 2 very expensive drill bits to get them out, then went and bought proper, non-ford bolts from a iron works place for £3.50, with proper bolt type tops, not the stupid allen key jobbies!
If you need a set, let me know, much easier to tighten these bolts down, as their the normal kind...

Update, drilled one hole (got some cobalt bits but still took ages) but then whilst tapping snapped the fooking tap holder.
The other one has 10mm of thread sticking out, so I keep welding nuts on, and occasionally snapping them off!!!
Bastard turns 3/4 of a turn both ways but can't get the cunt out, really fucked off tbh.

you can get stud extractors, usually from a good engineer suppliers.
its like a slot drill (milling tool) but what happens is, as you drive the extractor into the end of the stud,it has a left hand flute on the outside which pulls the stud out. you just put them in a power drill.

I broke a tap when trying to re-do mine Nath!
What a twat that was... keep at it mate you`ll get there in the end!!
I spent the best part of 2 days sorting mine out when fitting my manifold!
