Im running an MSD chip with closed loop.

Not sure what power blues are good for, you might have to upgrade to at least greens.

Ive got black 'siemens' injectors (dont cost much more than greens) from MSD and running 380 bhp.

Excellent conversion but you just have to respect your gearbox and an uprated clutch is recommended.

Closed loop makes it a lot smoother lower down the rev range and extra mpg of course

I believe the ahmed chipa are also good also good but a little on the 'brutal side'. I prefer smooth power delivery !

Default CLOSED LOOP

Closed loop is only a term used to describe the continual relaying of information betwen the HEGO and the ECM and appropriate adjustments for said conditions being met, ie a lopp of constant INFORMATION & FEEDBACK/ACTION FROM ECM.
tabetha
I get 28-34 MPG without closed loop, 2wd cossie.

what about Collins ??

I've been running a Collins st 3 chip and setup for about 10 years and it's been perfect...doing 336 bhp at 5778 rpm and 438 nm at 4906 rpm (above 400 nm from 3700 to 5850 rpm) at a rolling road tuneup recently.... and Im doing 9,4 to 10,5 km pr L fuel when driving "normally".... so I'm quite happy with that

The problem is 2wd is your chip was mapped on fuel back then which was not as good as we got now so with todays fuel you can run more timing for more power and boost which makes it a more drivable car!!!!

And better fuel econmy which helps

oh...I have just changed the chip last winter, so I think it's ok ....but I have always used Collins chips, (first a "grey" chip when I got the car, then a st 1 chip, for a year, then I went for a st 3 setup, witch I hvae used since, and just upgraded from then to now ), as I think they are good and I have always gotten very good info and service from them..I even visitede them one year..so all in I'm happy

and the fuel econmy is quite good as it is ...comparede to other st 3 cars here in DK......and yes there are some MSD cars

but that said, ... I have been thinking about a upgrade to greys again .... and just maybe I will try MSD....if I can find the last cuople of ŁŁŁ

Is it a DIY chip or a Live map setup you are running ?

And what are your spec's and approx power/torque ?

Its a off the shelf chip done to my specs:

std comp,T34.63,coilpack,escos chargecooler...

Would hope to see around 380+bhp @ 28 psi held 32 psi peak

But i'm building another eng so should have lower comp

remember its not just a case of increasing the boost

you need injectors that will flow enough fuel all the way through the rev range and needs to be setup by someone that knows what they are doing

if you are in the midlands which i guess you are, best speak to uncle Karl at NMS

although i have heard of NMS setups on T3's that will kill gearboxes!!
as mine is the only 1 out of 5 that hasnt killed the box

ok ... so what about head bolts....I was adviced to run the cometic gasket with std head bolts, or a gp A headgasket with a ARP stud/nut kit. I chose the Cometic/std bolt kit as most people said ok for that.... what is your opinion ??

Tom, My saff runs arp stud and nut i used a cometic 3 layer gasket but it was the early type and failed..

So i now use GRP A gaskets due to them being cheaper
cos imo re-useable ones cannot be re-used

Cometic gaskets are good cos there thicker and drop the comp ratio a little

i've been advised that when running big boost on std head bolts re-new the bolts one at a time after 6k you will have no probs
