Default Any electricians here? need some help (with Pics)

Hi everyone,

Bit of background : I have put a double switchable outside socket which i spured off the outside power supply to the garage.
This socket provides power to my deck lights, which i have to switch on by going outside flicking the switch to 'on'.

I decided to try to make the deck lights switch on from the inside, so i thought i would link the power suplly to a switch inside the house.

A pic: wire from power supply to inside the house. and back into the double socket

Back of the switch

Now the problem starts:
I was going to fit a standard 1-way switch, but accidentally picked up a intermediate switch. Now the place i get these switches are a 80 mile round trip

Back of intermediate switch:

Here's the question how do i wire up the intermediate switch so that when i leave the double socket switched on, i can switch the lights on and off from the inside. I.e be able to provide and cut the power to the double socket.

Hope this makes sense!?
Diagramatic answers would be brilliant!

Cheers
Ben

You want a switched fuse spur mucka, or at worst a double pole switch.

Use a 20amp double pole switch. The intermediate switch could be used at a push as you are not switching a huge load. The intermediate will probably be rated at 10 amp. If you do use this then put your blues in a connector and put one brown into the top of the switch and the other in the bottom. If it does'nt work move the bottom brown to the other terminal. I'm not sure which terminal an intermediate switches to at the bottom. I would use the 20amp double pole switch though

Used to be right next to the white weatherproof box with no wires on show ( you can see the old rawl plugs)
The white weatherproof box is the supply so its got to come out of there first and then inside the house and back into the socket.
Ive got to tidy the wires and seal the wall (water ingress) up as the jobs only half way through.

Re the socket...what im saying is ya cant really controll that socket with a light switch if ya gonna plug ya mower into it etc you need as said a fused switched spur or a double pole..

Do not use intermediate switch as it is not, on off ,its a change over switch eg possition 1 , L1 to L1 ,L2 to L2 possition 2 L1 to L2 ,L1 to L2 so if ou use this and switch it you will either cause a short or more likely change pollarity of power to lights. If you want some clever switching get to b and q for 20 quid you can get a remote control water proof external socket .one last thing is the circuit rcd protected.

I have explained that if he does decide to use it then to put the neutrals in a connector and switch the lives then this would'nt be an issue but a switched fused spur or 20amp double pole switch is the way to go

When i brought this house (new build) i payed to have all the sockets and switches upgraded to chrome. The only place that supply's these typeof switches locally ish are in northhampton which is 40 odd miles away. Right i'll get on the phone now then see if they will deliver it.
