Default Cometic head gaskets

Just a info question.
Anyone running this gasket had a prob with oil weeping.
Just rebuild my cossie long stud t4.8inj.
No leaks for 200miles but now oil weeping all around the underside
off the head gasket.
Was put on dry should i have used some kind of sealent like welseal?
Any ideas.

Was both the head and block skimmed ?

Both need to be flat.

What sequence did you tighten the bolts down with?

Also did you tighten them with a torque wrench (a decent one) and for the angle torques did you use a proper gauge?

ARP stud and nut kit is 120 lbft and i your using an early cometic gasket these had a problem as i was informed late last week as mine also went
The centre firing rings were 4 thou thicker than the outer to increase pressure around the combustion chamber but left the rest of the gasket not clamped down fully they have now sorted this.

std bolts are fine to use also as long as there torque to spec:

stage 1 25 to 25 nm
stage 2 45 to 50 nm
stage 3 rotate futher 170 to 180 degrees
