Default Problems with polybushed rear wishbones...... anyone else?

I've got Deflex poly bushes fitted to the rear wishbones on my S2 RST and have noticed they have a great deal of play in them

They've been on the car about 2 years and i fitted them when the car was apart being restored.

Basically i removed the rubber section of all 3 bushes which left me with the outer metal ring. when i tried to fit the bushes there was no way the polybushes were going to fit so i rang deflex and they told me to remove the metal rings all well, which i did and the bushes then fitted.

Now because the bushes only have a small surface area against the wishbone itself this is allowing the polybush to flex and a lot of movement on all 3 mounting points.

Has anyone else had this problem or any advice they can give me. Tried calling Deflex but cant get no answer.

Think i'm gonna have to get some other wishbones and start again

Cheers, Mark

Had this problem with mine. You need to leave the sleave off the old bush in place.I had to burn my old bushes out so old sleave was FOCKED.Tried to fit my new DEFLEX ones ,but as you said "TOO MUCH PLAY".I sold my DEFLEX ones on E-BAY and got POWERFLEX ones. But then heard that DEFLEX have now sorted this problem by making a sleave you can buy to take the play out of your new DEFLEX ones.Give them a call.

Cheers mercury grey minter, i removed just the rubber part to start with but couldn't get the new ones in so was told to remove the metal too. Will give them a call and hopefully they can sort me out with some sleeves or else i'll try and get some made up.

The old bushes where supposd to be fitted without the metal sleeve, which obviously never really worked. The new ones are smaller I presume to fit inside the old bush's sleeve. I myself welded some extra tubing to make more contact area.

Deflex are in the process of moving their factory which will cause some delays (as if there weren't before). It's rumored that they will be back with another name when they get the new factory going. Actually YOU should know as it's a UK thing.

The first ones they sent me for the wishbones for my old XR3i were too big and didn't fit inside the metal sleeve, phoned them up and they sent another set which fitted perfectly. Top banana!

(Still have the bigger ones if anyone wants them...lol )

Funny you should say that RapidRS, if i could have the bigger ones you still have that would be ideal as mine are damaged beyond use now as using them without the sleve. PM sent.

Cheers for all the info.
