Can you get big reliable power out of the Volvo 5pot engines ?

What litres are they ? 2.5 2.7 ?

 

2.3 TURBO, i had an ex-police t5 estate after my 4x4 saffy, and i,d say there,s more whoomf off the mark from the saff.....
when you get into boost in 2nd and 3rd in the volvo, then it takes off...
nice powerfull reliable car, starship mileage, good on fuel, tons of top end power....... BUT.......... give me back my old saffy any day....

depends which one, look towards sweeden and norway etc, 600bhp+ IIRC

 

volvo T5 use a T25 turbo so they get power pretty much straight off the bat. and obviously using a 2.3 gives it more oompf in the first place. they have an awesome noise when you touch the loud pedal and are pretty good round corners. as my mate always said a car must be good if the police use them.

 

2.3 is a better engine than 2.5 outta the box as its a lower c/r

 

I am helping develop one it will be tested with a GT30 then a GT35 so we are looking at 500 and then 600hp it is going in a T5R

the old yellow t5r's with the black alloys are cery sweet. r kids just bought a 2003 t5 and its nothing different from a base model to look at

my mates 940 will soon be pushing 500brake......and i was shit scared in it at a meger 173brake

how much did the 03 t5 cost?the v70 and s70 are shit 845 or 855 the best

 

he paid 9k with 70k on the clock,very good all rounder and its no slouch

 

For Ł1500 notes I couldn't go wrong Took the place of my FRS as the daily driver.

 

Very interested to see progress with this - I have a project plan for a B5234, I only want about 400-450 bhp out of it ...

The T5's do not use a T25 at all - all the Turbos are Mitsubishi except the new S60/V70 R which are KKK turbos.
With a basic remap and air filter costing Ł600 you can get 280bhp from 850's and 310bhp from S/V70s - even more after that but its not cost effective really. Deffo recommend one, even over a Saff.
