Default Who's good with seats then!?

Hi guys, yeah wierd question I know. I picked up an ST220 last night and the lekky up and down button for the seat doesn't work. For most people it wouldn't be that much of a problem maybe but I'm 6ft 5' and my head is on the roof of the car and I'm looking through the sun visor most of the time!
I can hear the motor working when I'm pressing the button, anybody know if there is a common fault on Mondeo seats for the up 'n' down buttons or even how they work!?!? Are they on runners that are likely to have fallen off? I assume they'll all be the same?!?

Any idea's or help would be appreciated!

My 1999 ST24 Mondeo has the same problem, i can hear the motor running but the seat doesn't move.
Lukily it go stuck full down. I have had a good look under the seat and taken a few plactic bits off, but the motor looks a sealed unit as part f the seat base .
So i'm interested also on the cost effective fix for this problem, must be something loose in the motor/drive mechanics. ??

I thought there might be something loose or something to, tried the traditional bouncing up and down on the seat like a mental case at the lights whilst pressing the button but the only thing it acheived was to make me look stoopid!

Somebody must know the answer

if they are anything like the granada seats the motors will turn and they operate directly onto the threaded metal bar to move up and down, it is either the bar that's come off at one end or the motor acuating thingy has broken

the sure way to test if to press the button and see if it stops, if it does then it's the arm come away from the mounting, if it doesn't then the motor isn't acting on anything

from the sounds of it, the motor has come away from the moving bits and needs reattaching

Cheers for this mate. I had a look last night and you were right on the money, the metal bar has come away from the motor. Just need to work out an easy way now to reattach it without having the whole seat out!
