Sounds like abs pump faulty or is losing it,s feed, maybe due to plug heating up from turbo heat, check wires/plug at abs pump

pressure switch seems to either be working overtime or not working properly when it's turning off time
rock hard pedal = stop the car and don't drive it anymore time

does the handbrake light ocme on at the same time?

the pump lives on the turbo side of the engine bay
the other side is the valve block which does other stuff
if the pedal is going hard then it's the pump side of things thats going screwy, normally a failure of the pressure switch to turn off after the required 180bar has been reached
