Default Removing the rubber strips from side of 3 door.....

Hi guys,

The rubber strips that run along the side of a 3 door...what's the best way to remove these?

Are they just glued on or do they clip in to the bodywork and leave holes behind them?

Cheers!

When i removed the ones off my Sapphire i used a wall paper scraper(was being resprayed so wasnt worried about scratching it)
They were just stuck on

But if you do take them off make sure you store them flat as the kink really easy and they are fucking expensive too

imho i like mine without the rubbing strips
but you do need something a bit bling, wheel wise
otherwise they do look a bit bland on the sides
i very much bout you will be able to put the OE ones back on if you wanted to,cos of the metal inside and it never goes back right

use a piece of twine m8, just run it under one end and use a sawing motion to get them off. it leaves the sticky on but that can be removed with a degreaser or warm water and washing liquid. and it doesnt damage your paintwork this way.

If you want to stick the mouldings back on all you need to do is remove the metal backing (you can never get that straight once you take them off) using a hot air gun or similar and stick them on wit some double sided trim tape.

As long as you are careful about the length (the strips can be 'adjusted' whilst warm) and use a wooden batton as guide to keep you striagt and level you'll never tell the differance froma rather expensive new set.

HTH.
