They are the plates that sit vertically to the rear of the rear hubs and brake calipers

If I understand correctly your after the splash plates that sit behind the discs. I believe Granda ones fit but I'm not sure. The Sierra ones are now obsolete, I'm running mine without them.

If you are meaning the rubber disks that are on the hubs to protect wheel from brake dust. My cossie has a set, nit sure if i want to part with them though. Is that the parts you are talking about??

Backing plates are the thin metal covers that sit in behind the rear hubs sheilding the discs from the inside.

When we rebuilt my brothers rear beam we just left them out but if you do fit a set get them powdercoated before you fit them or they will just fall apart after 6 months

Nope mine have been removed for 4 years and never failed yet. If you were to fit larger discs you'd have to remove them then anyway.

spalsh sheilds or whatever aren't they?
i've got a set i took off that were a bit worse for wear if you are DESPERATE for them
you can probably tidy them up if you want the bling factor but you realy don't need them and they certainly aren't an mot failure, and besides, you will get more air flow over the brakes so they should work better too
