Default 1600 & 1800 CVH Crank/Rods Compatibility?

Hi Chaps

I can get hold of a steel crankshaft and steel rods for a 1800cc CVH engine, they are brand new and very cheap to me!

Will the crank and rods fit straight into a 1600cc CVH engine block as I have a newly reconditioned one of these complete with new 1600cc pistons as a spare. Will I need to modify the cylinder head in anyway?

Will the new capacity of the engine be more than 1600cc, if so will it now be an 1800cc engine? Will my new 1600cc pistons fit straight onto the 1800cc rods?

If anyone can help with some advice?

Thanks
Bob

I turbo'd a 1.8 CVH, I think everything is different to the 1.6, I know the Rods are longer than the 1.6, I even had to drill a hole in the block for the dipstick and had to seriously alter the sump and oil pickup pipe, Anyway I would say the answer to the question is no

Default 1600 & 1800 CVH Crank/Rods Compatibility?

Hi Chaps

I know the engines are fundementally different and that many of the parts are not the same but I am led to believe that the crank and rods are interchangeable albeit you end up with something bigger than the original 1600cc you started out with?

In my case the sump, oil pickup and dipstick would all be ok, I am only thinking of putting the 1800cc rods and crank ito my 1600cc engine.

Does anyone else have any thought on this?

Thanks
Bob
