Default Is my actuator goosed

My car doesn't pull very well at all when on boost and only goes up to 10 psi now even though I've adjusted the actuator. I'm running a new stage 2 turbo with bleed valve. On the way home last night I decided to see if I could find the problem. Pulled the pipe off the actuator to see if it would go over 10 psi which it did being careful not to go over 15psi psi but the car seems not to pull aswell as my mates standard RST. Could my actuator be goosed causing this problem?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers
Dave

Its a -31 actuator. I'm gonna borrow a known good working one and take it from there.

A -31 actuator is capable of handling more boost. The standard item can only handle up to 10 psi efficiently.

Can a standard engine with a chipped ecu, filter and pipe cope with more than 10psi safely then? Only reason i ask is because i have the oppurtunity to buy one but dont want to stand the chance of blowing her up

The "waste gate" is a bypass of the turbine housing. If it's open, a part of the exhaust fumes is led directly into the exhaust to prevent the turbo from spinning too quickly and delivering too much boost.

The flap that is opening and closing this bypass is operatated by the rod of the waste gate actuator. A spring inside the actuator head keeps the rod tensioned towards the actuator head and the waste gate closed. If air pressure is applied to the head of the actuator however, the rod is pushed away from the actuator head against the spring pressure, opening the waste gate.

In a simple setup the air pressure necessary to open the waste gate is taken directly from the compressor wheel and is therefore equal to the boost.

"-31" is only the ending of the parts number of an uprated actuator commonly used. It will have a stronger spring inside.
