turbo choice is totally down to what you want from the engine, and what kind of power delivery

Mate i have a stage 2 turbo technics hybrid with two stage boost, 7.8:1 comp ratio with the fith injector.

Power slams in at 3.5 ish, now i dont run the high boost anymore because im iffy on the longevity of the rods and piston not to mention the turbo.

But id like to hear opinions on this so discuss away lads

Depends what parts ur after. Pistons: Somewhere like woodford or PJ do good deals. You want STD MAHLE pistons.

Gaskets - from ur ford dealer. ARP bolts - Rally Design. Turbo - shop around - Turbo Technics stuff is shit hot though. Shot peening of rods - any machine shop. Head work - i'd say Cylinder head developments for what you need.

Well the car was 230bhp spec when Andy had it. The 7.8:1 pistons and standard rods where specced at that power so they will be fine.

My engine was specced for 300 bhp and was going to have 7.8:1 pistons fitted.

Ive spoken to stu abpout the build, done a bit of research before and after buying the car and hes built a few at that comp ratio running up to 28 odd psi so im pretty confident in it, but since the vac hose on the 5th injector poped it aint been up high till i could get a hold of a fitting guide

Been toying with EFI though ut im getting the shell restored in a while once the funds are together so i can a good few rot less years out of her, she a beauty!

to get to 220 at the fly it wont be a must but a stage 3 head will be much less stressed.

if you can, get one.

With a ported head, you won't have to run as much boost and the stresses will be lower on the turbo as a result.

Sorry, I should have made that comment a little clearer now I have read it.

You won't have to run as much boost to get 220bhp with a ported head than you would with a standard head.
