Default Any Sony laptop experts or repairers? help needed

I have a Sony Vaio A317M laptop which has always worked fine but now refuses to power up (completely dead no lights nothing), when I press the power button nothing happens at all.

The last time it was used I left it unattended and the battery ran flat, the charger is producing power but the laptop shows no sign of it being connected when it's plugged in.

Anyone know anything about these or anyone who repairs them?

Does the laptop power up with the charger plugged in? It could well be that the battery is stuffed.

How you doing Efe long time no speak

The power pack is producing power and the green light on the charger is illuminated. I can't remember if the laptop itself has a lamp that’s illuminated when the charger is turned on ... do you know? I have noticed the socket on the rear that the charger plugs into is slightly loose but I'm pretty sure it's always been like that.

I'm wondering if the laptop is not getting the charge (faulty socket?) and simply wont turn on because the battery is flat, I prob need to try a charged battery in it to see but I only have the one that’s in the computer.

agree with ranj, in most cases if the bat is detected as dead it will not start up

I think Martin has alraedy tried running it with no batt in and just the mains adapter connected and it didn't work.

No lights on the laptop come on with adaptor connected.

My Vaio used to have a problem similar. I used to take out the battery. Take out the pSU and hold my finger on power button for 20 seconds.

Then try it with PSU plugged in and see if you get any life.

It was something to do with a static build up.

My work laptop has packed up too... its not even an old laptop, only a few months old!

Thats an IBM thinkpad one, so whilst that gets repaired, i'm using a nice HP one.

Bloody pain in the arse Laptops when they don't work!
