Default VR6 air fuel ratio

Been out in my brothers VR6 with the innovate wide band because it's using shit loads of fuel.

Here the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alBWOXHag24

It ticks over at 1 lambda ok and when under 3K RPM it's fine. Seems to go really rich further up the revs.

We think it might have a chip but don't know where the ECU is. What do you recon is causing it?

Put 2 tanks of fuel in going work and back, needs sorting!

with out seeing the revs or loads it hard to say

the higer the load the more fuel is used!

The ECU is under the scuttle in the middle isnt it?

cheers i will have a look and order a new sensors for a start i think

is it easy to tell if it's been chipped? its got a large throttle body off a 3.2 i think and a 6-1 exhaust manifold and produced 197 bhp on the local lps3000 dyno when we bought it

on the vidio it was flat knacker

You cannot tell physically if it has been chipped.

The ecu has flash memory that can be reprogrammed without opening
up the ecu.

More likely you have a sensor fault. Probally the AFM.

Get a proper diagnostic and dont just change parts till its fixed unless
you have deep pockets.

The standard vr's are juicy as hell anyway, can imagine a mod'd one going through a fair bit of petrol.
How much is it using exactly?

they need remapping when a larger TB is used and again if a 6-2-1 is used i had one for 1 year did the same mods but sold it before getting it mapped but to get the best out of the mods and correct fuel usage you NEED it remapped

1 full tank is doing about 160 miles

we are now thinking of fitting megasquirt on it

if any experts on here know how to get MS working on a vr6 engine with a dizzy/single coil

i think the firing order is a bit strange and im not shure if the strange V angle of the engine might throw a spanner in the works?

i have only fitted and mapped MS on zetec engines so im not exactly shure about a 6 pot setup and the vr lump isnt what i call an ordenary lump
