these are a couple of pics when I was at Australia Zoo in 2003 shame they were only cutouts and a large poster of him
. I will be going out again in November, shame there is no chance he will be there except in spirt. I would have loved to watch him perform at the zoo

That man was a complete and utter legend in his field. Hopefully the great work he started can be continued by others
A lot of people that wouldn't otherwise had any experience or exposure to the idea of wildlife conservation owe him a lot too
As that video said..he died doing what he loved..the eye contact he had with some of those animals and the mutual respect you could see was quite breathtaking in his work..
How you can grab a crocodile by the throat and not need to be swept up afterwards is astounding

It is gutting, personally im more affected about the fella's death than Princess Di. Before anyone jumps on me though, yes i know she did tons for charity and kids but people will never be extinct some of the animals Steve fought for will if we are not careful! The dude gave his all for his cause in life and died doing what he loved! Shame for his family though!

They interviewed one of the crew from his boat on the radio this morning. Was really sad.
The guy they interviewed was on his mobile to his son wishing him a happy birthday on Monday (day Steve died) and was standing near Steve on the boat. Steve asked if he could wish this guy's son happy birthday, so the guy obliged.
When he hung up, the guy said to Steve, thank you for that, it will have made his day. Steve replied, no, thank you for letting me be part of your life. The poor guy was almost in tears. Very moving.
He was and still is a national icon here and its difficult to compare him to anyone in the UK as I have been away for a while. I havent seen the nation come together like this though since one of the terror atrosities.
RIP Steve
