They interviewed one of the crew from his boat on the radio this morning. Was really sad.

The guy they interviewed was on his mobile to his son wishing him a happy birthday on Monday (day Steve died) and was standing near Steve on the boat. Steve asked if he could wish this guy's son happy birthday, so the guy obliged.

When he hung up, the guy said to Steve, thank you for that, it will have made his day. Steve replied, no, thank you for letting me be part of your life. The poor guy was almost in tears. Very moving.

He was and still is a national icon here and its difficult to compare him to anyone in the UK as I have been away for a while. I havent seen the nation come together like this though since one of the terror atrosities.
