Default power/performance

hi everyone,

ive been searching loads but cant find any info.

i know a standard erst is 130bhp, what is the next bhp figure attainable? i.e 170bhp? - with what mods??

with 170bhp what 0-60mph times, 1/4 mile times can be achieved?

boost pressure would also be a great help.

thanks

the next bhp figure attainable from 130bhp is 131 bhp.

for 170 bhp, on a pretty healthy engine, you need a chip, air filter and an exhaust system. then have her set up... voila

Mine has 226BHP and the best I did a croft 0-60 was a 7.5 seconds

Bearing in mind it was the first time i'd ever tries, I only had 2 goes and the tyres has been round the circuit all day so were not in the best condition.

Still crap though

after getting 6.95 on my first ever go i preceeded to get 8.26 and 8.27 on the next 2 goes

on the slower runs though my fans had just cut in on the start line so im blaming it on them sapping 100bhp lol

as std u need to change in to 3rd which kills it - raised soft cut limiter makes it much quicker.

Thats it Rick....

I have a soft cut Micro Dynamics limiter which is set 'just below' the standard hard cut limiter [effectively reducing my rev range slightly]. How would I go about removing the hard cut limiter and just relying on the soft cut one?

Any ideas?

easiest way is to fit an S1 fuel ecu, which has no rev limiter. You have to do a small wiring mod, but it works really well.

Rick,

I'm not really up on the ECU's etc... in the RST. Is the fuel ECU the black one? [As opposed to the silver one that is 'chipped'?

I'm asssuming I should get the fuelling checked after changing the ECU?

Can you run through the wiring mod required?

Cheers

n.b. Out of interest what provided the S1's rev limiter?

Two ECU's on the RST - Silver Ignition and boost control, Black fuel ecu.

There are 2 rev limiters - one in each ECU. When an ECU is chipped, it refers to silver ignition ECU, and most chips remove the rev limiter.

Its not as easy to remove the Fuel ECU limiter - it can be done by changing a capacitor inside. and this raises it to around 7200rpm. But, as it's an analogue circuit, and capacitors use a massive tolerance - you never know the true rpm limit if you do this.

The S1 has the ignition rev limiter, but doesnt have one in the fuel ECU.

The difference is in the wiring of the TPS - you need to bridge two of the S1 fuel ecu's terminals, as the the S1 ECU expects the TPS to earth through itself, where as on an S2 it is grounded to chassis earth...
