Default Properly Tuning the frst

whats the best or proper way to tune the frst engine up, i already have a airfliter and s/s system, however when i was looking around my engine by i noticed a bleed valve, the valve itself only had one hose going to the turbo, many ppl have said that this is the cowboy way of tuning, is this true, if im best off getting rid of it wot would be the next step of tunning, is ther any point to the 165 chip when i would need the 195 later on

There's nothing wrong with bleed valves providing they are set up properly. More importantly is when they are set up you don't fiddle with it.

Sort the brakes and suspension before adding more power as the stock kit can barely cope with the standard power.

From there a chip, intercooler upgrade and maybe a cam

firstly phone a good tuner and work out how much funds you have.if i were u id go 4 195 chip, front mount ic (grs or pro alloy)kent cam beige injectors escos fuel pump and you will see good power, but most importantly is getting it set up by a good tuner.i went for the 165 chip on mine,it goes like fook but i always wonder what it will be like with a 195 if u know what i mean.

i would agree totally with the above post also dont forget before buying a chip matey there are 2 types of management on a frst ofac and ofab if you lean down under the dash on the passenger side look up you will se the ecu(metal box type of thing) on the bottom there is a sticker saying what management u are running
if you require any of the bits above let me know matey as i have them

Agree with oranoco get the brakes and suspension sorted first.

i've got a 165 chip on mine just for conveneace of just pluggin it in and your done but will be upgrading. depends really on how much power you want but i'd go 195 chip, beige injectors, cossie fuel pump, cam, uprgrade rad and i/c oh and get t3 conversion.

hhmm, had alook and its a ofab, i was thinking of getting the t3 conv as it seems quite cheap, was also looking at those avc-r things, but ther expensive and look hard to set up, more of a cosmetic thing also, apart from the breaks os a chip one of the first things to do, ohh and my rad fan is ratteling about like mad, its really really enoying, i was thinking of taking the fans from a 306 tdi, since ther are 2 off them, and moddifining them to fit, since it will cover the whole rad and a little bit of the inter cooler also, anyone ever did anything like this

well you have the better management so thats a start matey the rads change is a real good idea but u have to move it forward when u change it to a t3 so make sure there is enough room main thing really is intercooler for cooling get a grs front mount but they aint cheap matey

Chips are a sh#te, if you want to do it properly get an aftermarket ECU. You do not need to spend a fortune, even a 2nd hand ECU is better than a chip.

Chips are far from the best way of doing it but it does work so I would hardly call them shite. Management changes cost money even on the cheap you wave goodbye to over a grand and then you need to have it mapped once it's all on. At the level of tune we are talkingabout a chipped ECU will be absolutely fine

im not wanting mega power, maybe 180-200 bhp, i was thinking along the lines of a t3 conv, cossie fuel pump, 195, better enjectors, maybe a cam and a alloy intercooler, that should put me around 180 bhp do u supose

ofac is the better ecu bust most tuners tend to use ofab because you can easily run more boost
