how to polish/rub down metalic paint
hi all i had some miner rust spots on the roof of my escort,so rubbed down spots , used kurust, then isopon, red oxide primer, colour is MERCURY GREY METALIC
then proceeded to spray over the spots with small aresol cans, all had to be done outside not having a garage.
however the resulting finish is dull slightly differant to original colour and very slightly orange peel effect. so would like to blend in the new and older paint.
i assumed i would just use something like t-cut or rubbing compound to blend in paintwork and then apply polish/wax and bring to a shine.
asking at local car shop it seems metalic paint is dull and laquer is applied over this to give a sheen.
this leave me a bit baffled how i can actualy blend in the painted areas to give a more uniform appearance, can the likes of t-cut/compound still be used on metalic paint and poish/wax applied to give a sheen??
thank you
