My compulsive buying streak has got the better of me - gone and bought another car, damnit. Neither got the space time or money for this. So lucky it's in alright shape - and starts on the key! I'll have some progress reports later.

Keeping the pinto in it, just rebuilding it, some new followers, double valve springs, get the head skimmed to up the CR, get triple angle valve seats bored whilst the head is away and so on.
The question I have is thus: what is involved in converting the head to run unleaded? As there is only one LRP garage round Potters Bar and they've got me over a barrel with their 4-star prices.
Ta for any advice.
P.S. the stickers are now off - will get some pics today.

Damn I meant to put my proper pics up - without the crappy stickers. Xindi - I was thinking of your YB'd beast when buying it. However this one will just have a budget fettled pinto for now.
More pics:
Couple of bits before I can MOT it - one would be a leaking fuel line  and the shagged TCA's - I presume that would be an MOT failure? Kind of feeling the ratty look of it. Will get rid of the couple of rust spots on the body and primer it, but thinking of just glossing over with laquer and leaving it patchy. I'll see.

Hehe good on ya bud
nothing wrong with a fettled Pinto engine, good solid old lump, that's why they based the Cossie engine on it
Yeah mate, cover the primer up as that stuffs pourous and will soak up the water, yup I think TCA's are an MOT failure, but don't know. Rebuilt mine with new bushes, so hope there gonna go through the dreaded MOT ok. Gotta watch it though if your planning on taking them off, they attach to the anti roll bar and can be a bit nasty to get back in. You do mean the TCA's and not the track rod end's don't you mate?

Nope - the full fat 2.0
And yeah I do mean the TCA's. Found some new-old stock with some poly bushes. So that's the weekend job as well as giving the engine a good once over before the ticket on Monday

Good thing to use to get the anti roll bar back in, a ratchet strap, works wonders
I normally attach the TCA to the anti roll bar end first, then ratchet it in and then put the inner bolt in
Has she got a 4spd box fitted or has someone converted her to 5 spd?
I'm crossing all me fingers for you mate, hopefully she'll pass

Total fucksocks!
Got round to doing the oil and filter change, did the fluids and other odds n sods. Did passenger side TCA...went to do the drivers side, undid it all and then got flumoxxed by the last bloody bolt - the horizontal one which attaches the ARB to the hub.
Went to put it back together again and it all went on fine apart from bloody nut that holds the steering rack to the hub
Had to bodge it on in the end with a biiiig washer, the MOT place is only 800m down the road so will have to drive there slowly and get em to fit the second arm in the moro before the test.

Well it's a big ol fail. But tis ok - it's basically what I was taking apart at 12am last night, and had to bodge it back together to get it out of the garage, a new set of nuts and bolts will see it pass.
Pedantic choonts these MOT'ers eh?
P.S. anyone have the foggiest of where the hell I could find a full set of bolts and nuts for the suspension on a capri? Probably just strip it all down and go and find replacements for each one.

Woo-haa! Sourced a unleaded pinto head. A quick swap of guides and hopefully I'll be able to use some unleaded instead of having to trek miles to the nearest LRP petrol outlet.

Update. Bumper has had to come off to get through MOT - nothing to do with it looking scary...honest.

Got the 14" steels all satin'ed up (they looks sweet), car is going in for some patching up of the rear leaf mount area on thursday, then stick it through MOT and give it a satin blow-over. Fitting the mondy brakes and doing engine work somewhere in between/afterwards.
*gets excited*
Oh and:
