chassis number when replacing floorpans?

chassis number when replacing floorpans?
when u renew rear drivers side floorpans whats the crack with the chassis numbers
hopefully mine wont need em but i was just curious as to what people do when the do a cheers

Well, IMO welding it back in would make it look dodgier than just leaving it out but keeping hold of it but not having it attatched!
i'd make a distinctive mark around the number while its still on the car, take pictures of it still on the car and rust spots to show why the pans being replaced, prefferably the marking and rust in the same pic but with the number visible too if possible
and take photo's of the work till it's finnished, and a photo of the vin number cut off the old pan, or even keep the whole old pan intact if you can? that way when it's being sold, the new owner will know the score instead of being dubeous as to why it's not their!
Even a digital video of it being cut off etc would be good!

try and find someone with the correct stamps and stars and then stamp it up.....
plenty of garages/bodyshops with these.
if i saw a car with a dodgy floor number i wouldnt buy it so make sure you do it right.

The right way is to take pictures and if u go to ur local plod they will stamp ur new floor pan for u and check that everythings above board...this way when u come to sell the vehicle u wont have any hassle! 
But if u cant be arsed,just weld the number plate into ur new floor pan

vroooom ptssssh and shane are right mate. Get it catalogued properly and then you will have no hassles should you decide to sell it at a later stage.
Getting a garage to restamp it will not look correct & imo look more dodgy.
Speak to the DVLA and ask their advice..after all if you want it restamping then you would be wise to go via them and get proof off them it was done correctly and the car is not dodgy.
