Default help s1 cutting out

Now and again it just cuts out, bought a new fuel pump but that dint work,
what happens is you can here something short out sounds like a buzzing coming from fuse board for a few secs rev needle throws a fit then cuts out, but then leave it for a min and it fires back up.
Does this sound like a dodgy fuel relay, is this common for s1.

If the rev counter is having a fit you will probably find its the dizzy breaking down, the series 1 fuel relays take a signal off the dizzy, so that would explain the relay clicking and the rev counter going tits
