Default CVH Camshaft quality

Does anyone know about the quality of different make camshafts. I'm after one that has a broad powerband, so fairly close to standard spec. Though the difference between std. (220 degrees) and the mildest aftermarket cams (260degrees) is quite big.
Newman seems to be of good quality, but they don't do a turbo cam for hydraulic followers, and I'm not thrilled of taking the expensive solid lifters route.

Kent and Piper are just too expensive for what they are.

AE, Federal Mogul, etc cams (160e per set) don't seem to last a summer with bad luck.

Ford quoted me 170e for a efi cam (cam only). Anyone know who makes the cams for Ford and what quality they are? Are they more likely to last years compared to AE cams?

Any other cams one can recommend? Currently I have a CVH35 which isn't really to my liking.

Just out if interest, where did you get this 270 degrees from? I checekd it once upon a time from the Ford's Escort mk3 workshop manual, but I may remember it wrong.

well for one i've measured it

220 is like stupidly mild. The kent cvh 31 is the same as a std cam shaft. You may like the cvh 34 - that has std exhaust duration but longer inlet - so no more lag but a lot of mid range punch. The CVH35 has 276 duration, and a lot of lift.

What did you use as a threshold value in the measurement?

Here I have the Ford's workshop manual for mk3 Esocrt. For XR3i it gives inlet open at 8 ATDC and closes 36 ABTD, so 180+36-8=208. The thing is that these values are measured with 1mm lobe lift
So not comparable at all...
