Default Rear opening screw covers

Noticed my rear windows were slightly loose today so set about tightening them up. Firstly tried from the inside, no luck as the whole assembly rotates, so gently removed the outer plastic covers. Got them tightened up, but an I fook get the covers refitted. They are really tight & due to the concave shape will not squash back over. Have tried using some silicone liquid grease but still cannot get them back over the 4 small lugs which hold them on.

Any ideas.....

the only way i have EVER been able to do it, is to put try and put the cap on by hand, once you get it in position use a rag thats been foled a few times over the cap, then tap it on with a hammer!!

I know it sounds quite bad, but as long as you are firm and can hit the cap square it should pop back on OK.

PS if you allways hit your thumb when using a hammer, probably best that you dont try doing the above method!!

Cheers Scott. Been a few people suggesting this...just bit wary of smashing the glass: even if I am careful

It is "surprisingly" strong, as long as you dont play at hitting it and HIT IT, you should be OK

I have yet to break a glass doing this method, and i have a habit of being slightly over enthuisiastic with the hammer!!! lol

they are a right bugger arent they. i bought some new glass wen puttin opening rears into my s2 and then got 2nd hand brackets and screws etc etc and put one into one of the window holes and it wouldnt tighten anymore, then i couldnt get it undone either so the bracket was lose on the window, luckily once in the car tho its ok.
