Default cts gearboxes

could somone tell me what is the maximum bhp my gearbox can withstand its a CTS stage two? & how much can a stage 2+ withstand as its going to cost me another £795 + vat for the upgrade of shotpeend gears, i havnt built the engine yet but its going to be a 16v zetec turbo, but i'd rather have the reliability from the outset... cheers

Hi guys, let me explain the pricing.
An upgrade from stage 2 to stage 2+ is priced at £795.00+VAT.
On a stage 2+ upgrade, the build is treated as if it were a fresh build, with all new bearings, any rebuilder parts, plus a gearset that we have shot peened and polished. But you are effectively supplying the Quaife ATB diff that already belongs to you.
The value that we apply to that diff is £400.00, which is the difference in price between a stage 1 box (£495.00) and a stage 2 box (£895.00) with the difference between the two boxes being the Quaife diff.
You might notice that at £400.00, that is quite a discount over Quaife's £475.00 retail, but I buy in bulk and pass some of that discount on.
So, the upgrade works out to be a stage 2+ box at £1195.00 minus the £400.00 for your diff which gives the £795.00+VAT.
Hope that explains ok

I was gonna go for the stage 2+ box. Doing a zetec build... 300bhp and 320lbft (ish) torque my aim. I thought the stage 2+ box would do the job?!?

So effectively a gearbox that costs 1200 quid or there abouts is actually worth nothing

good purchase

i rebuilt my own box mate took all the internals out an took them to an engineers shop in warrington,he does a lot with formular ford,he take your internal to a place in north wales called british aerospace were they build planes and all that etc an they do the shot peening and he simpley polishes the gear set and crown wheel for you ,think it cost 55+vat,then i took the viscous diff to bara motor sport in bromsgrove and he rebuilt the diff and put a higher viscousity fluid in it ,this was tighten to 120nm,very tight diff that cost 300 hope this helps
