Big fans, lower temperature stats will work.

Obviously having a lower temp switch isnt going to help if you have manual over ride, but will always help if you dont.....

Tell you something else to check, i had a problem years ago where the car wouldnt cool down, infact, when i put the fans on the temperature went up.

Anyway, long story short, some COCK SUCKER (no not me) had wired the fan the wrong way, so instead of pushing cold air through, it sucked hot air back out throught the radiator

another question matey does your heater blow warm air?
if not your heater matrix might be blocked and stopping the flow? just a thought

Coolant flush with fresh coolant,if ur rads getin old and water ways furring up renew it! cossie fan switch and stat,(what cossie they're from im not sure but someone will) or get ur fan on a switch but dont have it wired up constantly as this will cause further problems!also twin fans work wonders!

Use a cossie fan sensor switch, an 82.c thermostat and that should help reduce the temps.

Ł400 for an alloy rad, mate of mine can get alloy rads made with thicker cores for Ł180

oops when I fitted my cooler I thought the twin fans wouldn't work if I got the wires the wrong way round!!

I heard them spin up and left it! will have to check which way they spin when I turn them off and they slow down!

i know it sounds silly but you do need a thermostat or some sort of flow restriction to keep the water in the rad long enuf to be cooled, if there is no thermostat and no restriction the flow is too fast to cool properly, it dont spend long enuf in the rad...told this by a top tuner,

Heat Wrap around the manifold, turbo and down pipe!

Works wonders that stuff and its cheap and easy to do.

I run a GRS with a Standard rad and even on the hot days or sitting in traffic for ages it struggles to get up to three quarters on the gauge.

Its actually more a case of the coolant can never heat up properly, because it is allowed to pass through the radiator before its even up to temperature. Chances are it will run like a bag of poo and lets not even venture into winter driving..........

No stat is a bad idea. The temp issues aren't so bad if the weather is v hot, or it's on track etc. That's not the problem though. When race cars run without a stat, they fit a restrictor instead. The reason is, the stat causes back pressure in the cylinder head, and this is essential to cool the combustion chambers properly. Without a restriction, air bubbles form as the water boils, and heat transfer is greatly reduced. The water in the stat housing maybe nice and cool, but your poor cylinder head is cooking...

alloy rads arent 400 quid are they ?

i got one from ebay, 140 quid, and tbh they DONT make hardly any difference, at least not on my car ....

i am using bonnet raising blocks , and i have removed the bonnet vents also , one gigantic fan on the rad and on an overide switch. just over half way is the most ive ever seen it, even in *this* heat

My cars running off a standard rad and in this heat it stays incredibly cool, if i switch the fan on it sits right down, and im running a standard stat. Im not too sure why its so good but none the less im pleased. i do have a re-cored rad though

Just fit an override switch, if the fans are running full time and its still getting hot a cossie sender wont make fuck all difference

Override switches are piss easy

try a rad flush , drive about 100km , flush with a garden hose, you will be amazed with the crap that comes out
ive fitted a 12" fan with an 82' thermostat in place on the standard item
we run ambient temp down here of up to 35'c in summer and i never have problems
