B&M Quickshift fitted
OMFG!
How little movement in th elinkage now. I can change gear witha deft flick of my wrist.
Not that it'll do me much good though seeing as the turbo is in bits on the workshop bench
CheeRS to Rob & Co at SCC.

they are actually very very easy to fit to a series 2 and you can get them from woodford garage mate. check the installation instructions on b&m site and then see if you are confident.
You guys need to lose your woman hands with a B&M. Paul, remember it's an Escort you are driving, not a BMW.
One of the best mods I have ever done though. Didn't think it was possible to shorten the ERST shift by that much!!!
I do them for Ł185 posted, by the way!!!

Dave y - Glad you got yours in!! Hope you get your 'box sorted soon!!
the shifters are awesome however it is true that you must be very direct with the gears inorder to have a smooth change. Trust me its well worth it, just fit it right (which is easy) and you will be very happy.
Just got back from my first drive with it..
Fuck me! It's simply awesome. Best money I've spent on the old girl for quite some time. No problems getting gears although snicking the gears stationary isn't nice on th eroad there are no problems at all. I would rate and recomend the unit highly and I'm just gutted it took me this long to get off my aRSe and get one

Glad your happy
Mine actually lasted 3 stages (in competition use) before shitting itself and fearing for the rest of its life.
A few mods to the bearing carrier selector which is now drilled and grub screwed instead of relying on the little rubber 'o' rings
and we are sorted for life
Thats after B&M had to send me some new parts in its first week as the unit was faulty, but they came from the manufacturers within 4 days
As above - get them from Christian at APT

just drove my car up the road since i now have a gearbox
the gears are so precise and notchy compared to the standard setup its completely transformed.
i hear what your saying about changing in neutral you do have to be a bit more brutal with it lol.
the first couple of times i had to select 1st gear twice just to make sure it was in cause its so little travel.
I do get a bit of vibration through the lower bit of the centre console but i dont care
thans again christian!

The reason a lot of you are having bad changes is because you followed the instructions that came with the B+M.
Try assembling it on kitchen floor(including the long rod),then offer up the clamp (don't tighten yet)
to shifter shaft THEN bolt unit to the floor of vehicle. Then and only then
tighten clamp on shifter shaft/this ensures that it all bolts up nice and 'square' and each shift should be as smooth as me!
Good luck.
P.S.
If your box is a little 'doughtful' a little 'slick 50' also works wonders.
