fuel pump multi plug connector melted last night - any ideas what would cause this - is it just due to being old ....

 

possibly was due to age .. if the connection is old and possibly coroded then the current needed will increase ..
check connections on the fuel pump or the wires to the fuel pump see if they are damaged or corroded..

when i took the connector of it was correded so this must have caused the melt down....

so frustrating though cant get hold of the multi plug from ford so scrap yard it is and a soldering iron tonight....

 

THINK YOU MIGHT WANNA LOOK AT THE FUEL PUMP WIRING AND REPLACE THAT TOO JUST FOR THE SAKE OF IT
