Advice needed please people
hello people. jus a bit of advice from people who know
my missus bought a 52 plate focus from a garage in warrington about 3 months ago. guy offered a months warranty on it but she opted to take out an RAC opion for 12 months instead.
once she had signed the dotted line he told her to come back a week later as he needed to mot it for her. fair enough. one thing i noticed about it was that her steering wheel wasnt straight when the wheels were, so she took it to her uncles tyre place for him to have a look. he said that both the track rood arms were bent, seemed strange to him being both of them. gonna cost about 150 nickers to put right. would these usually be covered under warranty.
what i was wondering is there anythin we could do regards to the garage, i mean it should have failed its mot surely with them being bent. so if this is correct the way i see it is that it passed an mot when it shouldnt have and he knowingly sold a car that is probably not road worthy. is phone call to tradin standards needed.
any advice appreciated guys

the thing is mate, wheel alignment is not part of the test, and unless the arms were severely bent,i doubt he'd have noticed them, they look for worn bushes etc but imo i wouldn't expect it to be spotted

Sorry mate, but you should have pulled it up on the non-straight steering wheel when you bought it, and you certainly shouldn't have even discussed things without a fresh MOT, and this could have been avoided, this could well have a bearing on your RAC warranty.
Don't have a go at the garage yet, he may have been as unaware as you. We're not all shitbags, sometimes things we aren't aware of come to light.
Technically he's done nothing wrong. You can't prove conclusively that the damage didn't occur between 3 months ago and now, or that the garage knew anything about it.
I work as a Car Trader, and one thing that makes my life very upsetting is people ringing up screaming the odds without giving us even a chance to rectify the fault. I won't knowlignly sell a car with a problem, and I want every person that buys a car off us to be genuinely happy with their purchase, and to come back, it's what makes the job worthwhile, and no matter what anyone says, it's not the money.
Give them a chance. It really isn't their responsibility at this point, but ask.
