Default Is my gearbox fooked??

When in 1st 2nd 3rd 4th gear the car makes a racket, in 5th and neutral it's ok and with the clutch pedal down it's sort of fine not as loud anyway i'm sure i had this on my 2i and the gearbox was gone??

Thanks

same as what?

sounds like the main bearing is on its way out.
if you strip it now you might just save it, if the main bearing breaks down the main shast will get chewed, thus making it float about and running the risk of chipping teeth off the input shaft.

still unless you wanna spend out on getting it fixed, and a rebuild kit should be around £50-£60 then scrap it and stick another on, but make sure its a good box.
