Now it will be 8mm + sump gasket thickness all the way round !

If this gap is not checked then oil surge can cause air bubles to enter pick up and oil starvation can follow !!

How many others do a similar task when building their engines ?

thought i was weird doing that but it seems im not alone i also use it for a quick valve to piston clearance check too

Looks to me like the price of a tub of play doh could save you loads of cash when you put it like that.

A pot of Play-Doh (pinched out my daughters toys) is cheaper than another engine rebuild !!!!!
